Inquiry into the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples

On the 2 August 2022, the Senate referred the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples to the Joint Standing Committee on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs for inquiry and report.

Please note that the Senate’s Legal and Constitutional Affairs References Committee began an inquiry into the application of the UNDRIP in the 46th Parliament. All public submissions that were previously lodged with the Senate Committee have been accepted by the Joint Standing Committee on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs. Stakeholders are encouraged to look at the new terms of reference for this committee’s inquiry as they overlap but are different.

If you have any questions about the inquiry, please contact the secretariat at JSCATSIA@aph.gov.au.
