Background

Background
  • On 28 March 2024, the Australian Government announced up to $1 billion funding for the Solar Sunshot program, to build Australia’s solar photovoltaic (PV) manufacturing capabilities.

The program aims to support innovative manufacturing facilities in Australia across the solar PV supply chain. The solar PV supply chain includes polysilicon production, production of ingots, wafers, solar PV cells, and solar module assembly.

The program may also support complementary aspects of the solar PV supply chain such as solar glass, module frames, deployment technology and other innovation or manufacturing elements required for solar deployment.

    Please note:

    • You are not required to provide a response to every question in the consultation paper.
    • The due date for providing feedback on the consultation paper is 31 May 2024.

How to provide feedback – Appendix C of the consultation paper

ARENA is also seeking information on prospective projects under development or project concepts under the Solar Sunshot Program. This information will enable ARENA and government to better understand overall readiness and appetite of the market to develop projects in different areas of the supply chain and will be used by ARENA to develop final design parameters for the program.

To provide a response to Appendix C of the consultation paper, please use the link below.

    Please note:

    • Completion of the form is not considered to be an application to the Program and is optional.
    • Please complete the form with respect to each Project you may wish to apply for funding under the Solar Sunshot Program.
    • The due date for providing feedback with respect to Appendix C of the consultation paper is also 31 May 2024.

  • Public information sessions/webinars

ARENA and DCCEEW will also be hosting two information webinars regarding the program. Both webinars will include the same presentation content with an opportunity for questions to be asked by stakeholders and answered by ARENA or DCCEEW.

To support a more focused discussion, ARENA encourages participants with questions about the module manufacturing component of the supply chain (aligned with the proposed Round 1 of the program) to attend Webinar 1.

ARENA encourages participants with questions about other elements of the solar PV supply chain (aligned with the proposed Round 2 of the program) to attend Webinar 2.

To attend the webinars, please register through the links below:
